Barn at Shady Lane Winter Wedding

Luke and Mary Catherine were married on December 17th. They were married at The Barn at Shady Lane. Their Barn at Shady Lane Winter Wedding was the most beautiful wedding. The ceremony actually took place at their church, a pivotal location that plays a big part of the beginning of their relationship. Luke grew up at Faith Presbyterian, and Mary Catherine interned there for 2 summers. She became very close to Luke’s sister, Millie during that time, and Millie thought they would be a perfect match. It was only natural for them to be married at this location and I’m so glad they chose it seeing how it meant so much to them. ❤️

When Luke and Mary Catherine hired me, they knew there was a possibility I would not be able to attend due to my pregnancy. Although I was not able to go, I am so thankful I had my photographer friend, Brianna step in to photograph their special day. My associate photographer, Reagan, also helped capture each moment of this event and I could not be more grateful for the two of them. Brianna did an amazing job, and I can’t say enough about her eye for detail. I am so thankful that Luke and Mary Catherine are so flexible and their ability to trust me to do my job and make sure everything was coordinated speaks volumes about the two of them.

I love the smoky blue and purplish gray that Mary Catherine chose. This winter palette set the tone for the entire day and was the perfect color combination. Sidenote: their rings were so beautiful and were literally made for Mary Catherine and Luke. I’m also obsessed with her earrings but I’m pretty sure I would love anything that Mary Catherine chose to wear. She is absolutely stunning and trust me, she’s just as beautiful on the inside as she is on the outside.

The weather was so amazing considering it was in December but it was a mild winter day, which made it such a nice day to get married. Luke and Mary Catherine’s flexible timeline allowed for plenty of time for portraits. They were able to have a first look and sunset pictures which makes all the difference in the world. They have a huge variety of images to choose from and every single photo turned out perfectly. Their first look was so sweet because Brianna did not even really need to pose them. They are naturally just that cute together and it shows. 😍

Mary Catherine’s sister had twins on the same day I had my daughter and was not able to attend the wedding. I know Mary Catherine really missed her terribly but I’m so glad we were able to include her sister in their engagement session so she still had a part in this special time of their lives. You can see pictures from their engagement session here.

I am so thankful that I had Brianna and Reagan to step in during my absence and help the day to go smoothly with no hiccups. Mary Catherine has been so patient with me as I prepare her sneak peaks and gallery as I once again navigate life with a newborn. I wish Luke and Mary Catherine all the best and hope these images find their place on their wall for years to come.
