Sam and Madelyn’s engagement session started fifteen minutes late because my GPS took me somewhere else. Alabama isn’t exactly up to date on these things sometimes, but thankfully Sam and Madelyn were so understanding and super patient with me and my GPS. 😆
The timing actually worked out perfect because the sunset was amazing and every shot turned out so perfect! We started out at the University of North Alabama campus in Florence, Alabama where Sam and Madelyn met and were engaged. 😍
Sam is local to Florence and Madalyn is from a town close by. They grew up in similar circles with mutual friends, but never had the chance to meet until they were in college, where they hit if off immediately. They both graduated last year and will be married in June of 2022. I’m excited for the chance to be a Florence, AL wedding photographer for a few days, as I am usually based out of Birmingham.
These two love birds were actually engaged right here at this fountain so of course we had to take pictures here. And in true Alabama fall fashion, we walked around the campus looking for fall foliage because it’s finally starting to resemble fall in the South. 🍂
It was surprisingly quiet for a college campus. Usually when I do sessions on campus, it can be pretty hectic and busy, but this day was perfect and I felt like Sam and Madalyn had the whole place to themselves. We got every shot we needed without having to weave around people. We talked in between pictures and I enjoyed getting to know these two before their big day. Their venue is actually close to campus, so it makes me even more excited to be back here in June.
After we finished at UNA, Sam and Madalyn had an outfit change and we headed to downtown Florence where we stopped at Mobile Street. We took a few moments at this little bench where Sam and Madalyn met for their very first date. Naturally, I had to get several pictures here so we have the full-circle effect. 😍 They are just so adorable I can’t take it!
I love this theatre in the background and the whole downtown esthetic gives all the first-date vibes. The fact that they actually had their first date here makes it that much more romantic. Although the actual sun is hiding in some of these pictures as it was going down, the clouds illuminated the most beautiful light in the background. How stunning are these images? Every. single. one. I am so in love with the golden hour light and couldn’t have planned a better setting for these two for their engagement session.
